Repentant..

Hello, hello..
Yup, it's been a long, long while. Am not going to make any excuses but let me tell ya' it's been a disheartening and frustrating few months for me. There are days when I could blog but could not get my words just right and then there are days when I want to blog but I can't cause there's no Internet line. In the end I just gave up.

Recently I have been able to find a spot in my family home that enables Internet connection, but it's so slow that I don't think that I would be able to upload any pictures and to be honest, it's the pictures that makes a beauty blog right.

Anyway, ever since August 2011 I have been travelling back and forth between KL-KK and Keningau. I had to move trice in that span of time and each time I thought I was going to be moving permanently so I brought all my stuff with me which includes all my makeup. Now that, my friends, was not a nice experience at all.

For one thing as a makeup junkie I couldn't bear to leave any behind so I just HAD to bring all of it with me. Secondly there's so many that it weighed at least 5KGs. As someone who travels by Airasia, every KGs are precious as one is only permitted 15KGs/pax. Maximizing the luggage weigh means spending more moolah.

As I was packing the amount of makeup that I had really overwhelmed me and I felt like hyperventilating. It was the first time that I had aver felt that way. Now, I really feel repentant. If I were to buy more makeup in the future, I want to buy things that I don't have and could really use.

Needles to say now that the holiday season has started, cosmetic companies has started to come out with their holiday collection which is always fabulous and some offer fabulous deals that would have our heads spinning. Argh! It's taking a toll on my self-restraint somewhat. Hehe...

Anyway, I hope to be able to update this blog soon. Cheers!

Makeup Switch-Up (3rd Week of July 2011)

Hi y'all!

It's makeup switch-up time. This week has a lot of MAC products (Big surprise there.. Not! Hehe...) including my MAC palette as the palette of the week. I also included my Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Ballet for the 3rd switch-up in a row because the colors in my makeup palette are warm colors.

Warm eye shadows have the tendency to make our eyes look tired and I find that Ballet is a great 'neutralizer' when layered on top of warm shadows. It also gives a bit of 'Omph!' when layered on top of any eye shadows but I personally don't like wearing it on it's own.

So lets get on to the products that makes up the list:

Rimmel London Renew & Lift Brightening Powder
in 201 Classic Beige

Neogence Whitening UV Protection Make Up Base

MAC Pallette (Various Colors)

The Body Shop Radiant Highlighter

T-B: Bloom Lip Gloss in Tangerine,

The Body Shop Eye Definer in 10 Brilliant Blue

MAC Pigment in Naked (sample)

Mary Kay Eye Primer

The Body Shop Lip Butter in Wild Cherry

The Body Shop Lip Color in 04

MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque

I also used my MAC Moisture Cover Concealer and as I mentioned above, my Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Ballet. The Internet line here where I'm staying is not so good so I am not able to upload the picture of those two so sorry peeps. They're no strangers to this blog however so I'm sure you are very familiar with them by now especially Ballet.  ;)

This is all for now peeps. Cheers!

Love,
Phoebe...

Makeup Switch-Up (2nd Week of July 2011)

Hi y'all...

All these while when I do makeup switch-ups I always use a little self restraint on myself and only include 1 product from each category. For example I would choose a foundation, a powder, a blusher, a lipstick and a gloss, etc to be used during that week.

Of late I have started to feel as if I am not getting a full use of all the makeup in my collection and I become a bit bored of using the same products everyday for a week. So for this makeup switch-up, I have decided to love a little and select two or more items for a certain category of products. I made a point to include at least an eye shadow, a cream shadow, a single powder shadow and a loose shadow all at a time.

I feel that by doing this I will be able to try a wider array of products each day and having more options will (hopefully) inspire me to be more creative with my makeup every single day. So check out the products that made into this week's list:

 SimplySiti Lipstick in Ku Mahu

MAC Lipstick in Creme De La Femme

The Body Shop Love Gloss in 19

The Body Shop Liquid Lip Color in 01

 Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Warm Natural 6

T-B: Silky Girl Long Wearing Eyeliner in 01 Black Black,
Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in 08 Frosty Silver

Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Ballet

I've done a purple look and a smokey eye so far with these products and I am loving the foundation by Rimmel. Will be doing a review on it soon I think. Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Cheers!

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?

I'm going for a course in Kota Kinabalu starting tomorrow and the part that I hate the most is packing at a short notice. Believe it or not the thing that gets me in a tizzy the most is selecting which makeup to bring with me.. I don't want to bring too much or too little, neither do I want to bring the wrong items.. You see where I'm going with this..

I know, I know.. For some of you this might seem OCD and maybe you're right. Anyway, as a general rule I always try to bring minimal stuff or things that have a dual purpose to them. I also like to bring palettes as it's more convenient. Lets get on to the items that I have finally decided to take with me on this course.

My makeup bag from Sasa

Make Up For Ever Powder Foundation

I chose a powder foundation simply because they are really convenient as it merges 2 steps (putting on liquid foundation then setting it with powder) into 1. I save time and space in my makeup bag. Yay!

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge For Lips and Cheeks in Powder Pink

This baby here as the name itself states, is a dual-purpose product whereby it can be used as a lip color and a blush. I personally find that it works as both perfectly for a natural look. I used to use this all the time but eventually I moved on to other products and somehow forgot all about it Huhu..

MAC Mini Lipglass in Mimmy (Ltd Edt)

I love this color and I rarely ever use it because it's limited edition. It's a mini too so I want to make it last as long as possible. Silly I know. Hehe.. I chose this because it's a complementary gloss color to the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge. As it's a mini, I can tot it around with ease.

MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer NW25

L-R: Bobbi Brown Metallic Eyeshadow in Nude Beach and BB Eye Shadow in Hot Stone

I will be using the Nude Beach on my lids and the Hot Stone on the outer corner of my eye. This makes a really nice look with a cool, neutral tone to it. It would definitely suit any outfit that I might choose to wear and it cuts my anxiety level to the minimum just by not having to think about color matching my outfits with my makeup (yeah, I'm old-fashioned that way).

MAC Bare Study Paint Pot

This is a perfect base for the Bobbi Brown eye shadow duo. I will be using this as my eye primer because aside from making the colors of the shadows more vibrant and fresh, the colors also lasts significantly longer. Bare Study is fast taking over Reubenesque as my favorite MAC Paint Pot.

The Body Shop Shimmer Waves in 01 Blush

I felt like I needed a bit of a glow because the Make Up For Ever powder foundation, while applies smoothly and leaves my skin looking flawless, it does tend to look ever so slightly powdery so I figured that a little highlighter is needed. The colors could also be swirled together as a blush and used individually as eye shadows.

MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Illusionary Burning Ambition

As a girl I cannot run away from the 'what if' mindset that always make the female population bring gross amounts of unnecessary stuff while traveling. I decided to throw in this eyeshadow duo to provide another option for an eye look, only these are warm neutral colors. A bit dramatic with the gold but still wearable.

The brushes that I will be bringing.

Undeniably we can get by without makeup brushes, just like we can get by without forks/spoons, and just use our fingers. However just like fork and spoons, makeup brushes makes our life easier. With that being said, I simply must have at least 2 brushes with me but the usual ones that I would bring are the ones above and a blusher brush if I'm using powder blushers.

So that's what I have in my travel makeup bag to last me 3 days and 2 nights. if you have a question or request for a review, do comment in the comment box below. Cheers!
