October Haul

Hello friends..

This post is going to be about my October haul with mini reviews on them. If you have any question regarding the products below feel free to post them in the comment box. Enjoy..

MAC Oh So Fair Beauty Powder
Venomous Villains Collection (Ltd Ed)

I haven't really been using this much lately because I'm been downsizing my makeup bag to the bare minimum at the moment and beauty powders are not counted as an essential. I aim to get more use out of this product by next month though and will have more to tell about it.

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder
in Warm Natural (No 6)

My absolute favorite face powder. Suits my skin tone, sheer and light yet still provides enough coverage to be used alone. Matches my MAC mineralized foundation (which I adore) perfectly. What more can I ask for? :)

MAC Beauty Powder in Azalea Blossom
Ltd Ed

My go-to blusher for the past few weeks. It doesn't come out purple at all! Provides such a sheer, natural flush to my cheeks. I wish that it's not Ltd Edition. Huhuhu... Had to take it out of my makeup bag though because the downsizing-makeup-bag-to-the-bare-essentials tingy.

MAC Lipstick in Creme de La Femme

I've been wanting to get this for months and I finally got it! Yay! I don't usually go for frost colors especially pinks but somehow I think this works for me. I use it alone or with my MAC Quietone lipstick.

She Who Dares Mineral Eyeshadow
Venomous Villains Collection (Ltd Ed)

I try to use this as much as possible. Sometimes I use it as an eyeliner on my lower lashes by itself for night time. For work I tone down the color by putting on black eyeshadow as my lower lash liner first then put this over the black shadow. Sparkles are a  no, no at the workplace... Unless you're in a line of work that involve late nights and disco lights.

MAC Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara

I absolutely hate this mascara and I wish that I had never bought it! Seriously.. I find it really hard to find a MAC product that I hate and this is the first. I have 'rooftop' (atap) lashes and I need a mascara that can hold the curl in my lashes after I've used an eyelash curler. Somehow this mascara makes my mascara droop within 30 seconds of putting it on.. Grrr.. It might work for those who have naturally curly lashes though. Tell me if you've tried it and love it.

MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner
Fabulous Felines Collection (Ltd Ed)

I love this eyeliner. It has a flexible tip which makes it easy to use and handle. This is the first liquid liner I've used that enables me to really control the thickness of the line on my lids. I wanted to buy it in KL but it was all sold out. Thank God I found one here in KK. Hehe...

The Body Shop Rainforest
Radiance Conditioner

I've given this product a review before recently and as an update I still find that this product makes my hair really soft and manageable.

The Body Shop Rainforest
Balance Shampoo

As an update review, I notice that if my hair becomes really oily I would need to shampoo twice using this shampoo. The first time would yield minimum lather and lathers more the 2nd time I shampoo my hair. I guess it's because this shampoo is formulated to be gentle on the hair and scalp that's why it's not strong enough to wash too much oil build up in one go. Still love it though because my scalp seldom itches since using this.

MAC Fluidline in Waveline

This is great to provide a pop of color and something different than the usual safe colors like brown and black. I do wish that I have a good liner brush so that I can enjoy using this product more.

Bobbi Brown Beauty Living Book

This book used to be so expensive so when I saw it sold at Harris bookstore at 1Borneo at RM19.90 I was so excited I almost danced in the store.. Haha.. It's mostly about makeup tips, looking beautiful while aging and how to reduce the effects of aging. Good for those 30 years old above and for those in their 20s who want to prevent the effects of aging from an early age.

MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque *sorry for the dark pic
that doesn't do the color any justice*

My ultimate favorite purchase of the month from MAC. Paintpots are categorized as eye shadow at MAC but it can actually be used as an eye primer and base. use this all the time as a base color. I love this so much that i think it deserves a specific review on it's own. LOVE!

Mac Mineral Eyeshadow
in Play on Plums

This is a really nice color and works well with the Rubenesque Paintpot. I have received compliments on it but I personally think that the plum color is a bit too warm for me. Maybe it's all in my head? I dunno but I'm going to experiment a bit more with this and see how it goes...

Review: The Body Shop Rainforest Shampoo and Conditioner

Hi y'all!

This time I'll be giving a review on the Body Shop's new line of shampoos which is the Rainforest line. I have been looking for a good shampoo for years, a shampoo that would reduce hair fall, scalp irritation and flaking. From Head & Shoulders to L’Occitane, you name it, I’ve tried it. You see, I’ve always had problems with my scalp.

It flakes excessively, itches like crazy and unfortunately, it’s not due to a lack of hygiene. It is hereditary. I have to live with it, and adapt to it. My sister has it and so does my dad. We have to be really selective of what shampoo and conditioner we use because the wrong one would make our condition worse.

                                  The conditioner                            The shampoo

I first saw The Body Shop’s new shampoo line, which is called Rainforest, at the KKIA airport as I was waiting for my flight. I browsed through them and the SA told me that the line contains no silicone, sulphates, colourants or parabens and can be used by those with sensitive scalp. All of them smell heavenly too.

The line has 4 types of shampoo and their respective conditioners. There’s Balance, Shine, Radiance and another one that I’ve forgotten. They also have trial set that you can buy if you’re not sure of committing your moolah on the full-sized product. Each set contains 2 travel sized shampoo and 2 and conditioner. Cool huh?

Three days ago I decided to give it a try because I needed to buy a shampoo anyway. I bought the Balance shampoo and Radiance conditioner. When I used it that night I noticed that while it does lather, the shampoo was really easy to rinse off and left my scalp feeling fresh and my hair smelling like Frangipani flowers. The conditioner made my hair so, so soft that I couldn’t resist touching it every few minutes..

I loved it so much that I used it the next day as well. Hehehe.. My scalp no longer itches like how it used to. In fact, there’s 90% no irritation now. Same goes with the flaking. When I run my fingers through my hair, there are less hair fall-outs too. I don’t know whether it’s a coincidence or the shampoo worked really fast.

I know that giving a review on these product after only 2 usage is a bit premature but I’ve never experienced this with any other shampoo before and I’m really excited to share this product with you guys. I will give further updates on this product. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this product will continue to work well for me…

Until next post chickas.. Cheers!

MAC's Venomous Villains Haul..

Dear friends..
I feel so guilty because when I came back from KL I had promised to do a post about the MAC Venomous Villains Collection and I didn’t manage to do so. I could have sworn that I have done a post on this collection in a draft but I seem to have lost it. It’s a bit late now but I’m going to do it anyway.. Here goes..
The Venomous Villains collection is comprised of four Disney Villains which are Cruella de Vil of 101 Dalmatians, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.

Here are some of the things that I got from the collection..

The cover of She Who Dares

She Who Dares Mineral Eye Shadow
This is from Maleficent’s range of products. It’s a dual shadow with sparkly dark blue and green. You might know from my previous post that I’m a sucker for both colors and also the color purple when it comes to eye shadows so this definitely went into my shopping ‘cart’.

Tadaaa... Nice rite?

Strange Potion Lip Gloss
This is from the Evil Queen. The color is peachy pink and goes on opaque on the lips. It can be used over lipstick or on its own. I really, really like this gloss and it’s fast becoming my fave because of its versatility. The color doesn’t suit all skin tones though. My eldest sister’s skin is a shade or two darker than mine and it didn’t do her justice unfortunately.

Strange Potion

Oh So Fair Beauty Powder
Also from the Evil Queen of Snow White, this delicate pink powder is used on top of blush to make it look more natural and balance the blush color. The color of this beauty powder is such that it tones down bright blushers and enhances and brightens the color of natural blushers. Cool huh?

The sleek black cover with the Evil Queen on it..

I love this color...Looks a bit different in 'real life' than in this pic... Huhuhu...

At the time when I bought this collection, I was in KL and it had just come out on display on MAC counters. Some of the products were not all on display yet and that includes the Magically Cool Liquid Powder from Dr. Facilier’s range. I went to the MAC Couter at 1Borneo but it was all sold out already. I shouldn’t be surprised I guess.. MAC Collections sell out really fast. Hm.. Bummer…

This is all for now, hope you enjoyed this post. Cheers!
