Review: Pixy Gentle & Moist Cleansing Lotion

Hello there,
Recently, I noticed that there was a big hoo ha going on in the local beauty community regarding Pixy's Gentle & Moist Cleansing Lotion. Curious, I decided to pick it up and try for myself.

There are 2 sizes available which are 50ml at RM7.00++ and 100ml at RM13.00++. Since Watsons were all out of the former, I took a leap of faith and got the 100ml bottle.

This product clains to be alcohol- free and contains honey for moisturising the skin. It combines makeup removal as well as toning action and is 100% water-based formula.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect much from this product. However, after using it for the past week I have fallen in love with it. Here's why:

01. It removes my makeup completely, even my utterly stubborn waterproof mascara.

02. I don't need to use a lot of force to remove my makeup. Gentle motions are enough to do so. No more pulling and tugging at my poor skin!

03. It doesn't sting my eyes at all nor did it irritate my skin.

04. It doesn't leave an icky sticky residue. My skin feels soft and refreshed as well as moisturised.

05. Affordable. Need I say more?

06. Since it's water-based, it doesnt leave oil spots where I use it to correct my makeup mistakes.

Here is a demo of the product through photos:

To remove face makeup you will need to go over your face a couple of times especially if you used heavy face makeup but that's pretty standard. I definitely recommend this product to everyone. Go and buy it the first chance you get okay. Hehe..

Phy

An Important Announcement

Hello there...

I have been blogging since 2008 and I love it. It has captured my best and worst moments, my first experiences and the birth of my precious daughter Sophia among other things.

However, I have been having mixed feelings about this blog for the past year. I don't know how to say this but it just doesn't feel right anymore. I can't remember it's birthday, its littered with failed projects and some of the posts are written in a way that I think people would like to read and not how I like to write.

I had hoped that by doing several changes it would be okay again but it did not. It was starting to become dead weight to me. In the end, I decided that it is time for a fresh start. It was fitting for the new phase in my life that I will be embarking on soon anyway. Hence, my new blog phyrobert.blogspot.com.

The title of my blog is 'Just Be' and it is a reflection of my determination to be myself. Nothing more, nothing less. I am no longer going to worry what anyone thinks about me or what is expected of me insyaAllah. Neither am I going to write in anyone else's 'voice'. If there is something I learned from other successfull bloggers it is writing your own way and about what you like.

I would like to thank you for the love that you have shown here. I hope that you will continue to give the same love and support to my new blog.

See you at phyrobert.blogspot.com!

Love,
Phy

Makeup Mania: Double, Triple, Go!

Hello dearies,

I have always loved doing a winged liner for my makeup look. During the past few weeks, I have been really into doing the double winged liner look.

I liked it sooo much that I even took it to another level... Triple winged liner that is.

It reminds me a little bit of those Manga cartoon's lashes especially if it is made even more extreme. What do you think?

So what makeup looks are you into now. Do share in the comments section below. Cheers!

Love,
Phy

Spring-inspired Daytime Look..

Hello hello...

I know that it is already summer in countries with four seasons. However, I am still in the mood for spring. Since it is said that there are no rules when it comes to makeup, I've decided to do a spring-inspired eye makeup that is appropriate for day time.

The look I did comprises of a shimmery, almost duo-chrome shade of light pink with shimmery light gray on the outter corner and crease for definition. I felt that a black liner would be too harsh for this look so I decided on a bronze colored liner.

The way I did this look was pretty straight forward using MAC's Caviar Dreams quad from their Champale collection. I used a flat brush (MAC 239) to apply 'Et Tu Bouquet?' on the lid, then applied 'Caviar Dreams' on the outter corner and crease using MAC's 217 brush.

Next, I simply used 'Brule' as my highlight color and lined my upper lids with 'Lord It Up' eye pencil (if I'm not mistaken it's a pearl glide) and created a wing. I also lined my lower lids half-way from the outside in. Make sure to connect the upper and lower line at the outter corner of your eye so that it won't look disjointed.

The above picture is of the products I used. Didn't take pictures of my brushes though. Sorry! This look is sooo simple and makes one look uber fresh. I hope you give it a try. If you do, please take a picture and upload it on Instagram. Don't forget to tag me (my user name is @phylliciarobert).

Good luck!

Love,
Phy

P/S: You don't have to use the same exact products I did. Just use whatever you already have that is similar in color.

2013 Beauty Resolutions

Hello lovelies...

Today I will be writing about my beauty resolutions for 2013. Before that, here's a bit of background on my beauty-related habits. I used to be the type of person who was quite mediocre when it comes to beauty. I would wash and condition my hair, even put serum on but not hair mask. I would bathe with really nice-smelling body washes instead of just bar soap unless it was Dove (cause anything aside from Dove was quite drying for my skin) but I would rarely scrub my body nor put on body lotion. You get the picture. Basically I am not overtly lazy and neither was I a complete beauty buff.

Ever since a year and a half ago due to my pregnancy and where I was staying at that time (which had limited resources) I was forced to forgo certain beauty habits to save up on those limited resources. Also, during my pregnancy for some reason I became sooooooo lazy to do anything beauty-related so much so that I thought that my baby was a boy (In my country, we believe that the gender of a baby would affect the mother's behaviour during pregnancy). Unfortunately, that laziness went on well after I had Sophie. It became a habit for me to skip conditioning my hair for example and my hair has become a total horror. Don't even get me started on my skin.

Because of that I have decided that this year I am going to 'reclaim' the woman that I was if not be better. So the following are my beauty resolutions for 2013:

1. I will moisturize my face and neck. I know, I know.. I have been really mean to my skin *head hangs in shame*
2. I will put on sunscreen. I am not the type to wear sunscreen and I have acquired new freckles on my face during the time that I worked near the sea the past 3 months. Sigh..
3. I will scrub my body once a week *baby steps people, baby steps*
4. I will drink the acquired quota of water per day and consume less sugary/flavoured/gassy drinks if not banish them altogether.
5. I will condition my hair and put serum on it.
6. I will scrub my face once a week *again, baby steps*
7. I will put on a facial mask once a week *ditto*
8. I will wear body lotion at least once a day, 4 times a week.
9. I will carry breath spray with me. *In college I used to bring around a small bottle of mouth wash but now since I am more ahem, grown up, I think breath spray would be a more fitting thing to tote around*
10. I will wax my legs, as opposed to shaving, once a month.

I think that those resolutions should be good enough for now. Do you have a beauty habit that you'd like to establish but never did? Or do you have a bad beauty practice that you'd like to break? Tell me about it in the comments section. Cheers!

Love,
Phoebe

P/S: Show me some love on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (Phoebe_Sophie for all three). Thanks for your support.

MAC Archie's Girls.

Hello there,
Ever since last year I have heard that Mac Cosmetics will be releasing a collection featuring one of my fave comic book characters, Betty & Veronica! This collection is called Archie's Girls and I am sooooooo excited about it. This collection features two sets, one for Betty and another for Veronica. Betty Cooper's set features cutesy colors such as light pink, light green and I am guessing peach (this is based on the pics that you can check out below). Veronica's colors are dark and vampy such as deep purples, hot pinks and reds.

I am keeping a tight reign on my purse (or at least, I will try my utmost best to do so) from buying anything at the moment to ensure that I could buy everything that I want from this collection. I have already spied with my little eye a few items that I would like to purchase. Among them are the pigments! I don't know why but I simply love loose shadow, especially pigments, even though they can be a pain to put on. Check out the pics below:

The much-loved comic characters Betty, Archie and Veronica.

The real-life version. Sejak bila Archie beranting2 ni? And where are his pimples (or are they freckles?)? Duh! Veronica looks scary in this pic don't you think?

Turns out to be a pretty big collection. Habis robek pocket beta. Huhuhu..

Okay, the packaging of the palette looks a bit cheap but just look at the pigments.. *Drool*

Some people has already gotten their mitts on them.

I'm guessing that these are one of the brush sets.

Am loving the powder with hearts.

I heard that it is going to be really hard getting our hands on this collection. Mac certainly knows how to build up the anticipation. Everyone is searching online to know what the colors look like but these pics are what you would see at most. I am sure there are a lot of makeup artists and probably some Youtube makeup gurus as well that has been sent these stuff from them as you can see from one of the pics above. However when I searched on Youtube there is no information about them. Absolutely zilch it seems. Maybe they have been told not to say anything until February 5, 2013 when it would be displayed in at a private party. That's the only explanation I can think of.

On the web it seems like the collection will be launched on December 7, 2012. However, a MAC insider told me that in Malaysia it is estimated to be released in March 2013 so I am not sure if there would be any changes to the date.

Have you ever wondered if you are more like Girl-Next-Door Betty Cooper or the glamour puss Veronica Lodge? Tell me your thoughts on this collection. Until the next post, cheers!

Love,
Phoebe

I've Found It!

Hi dearies,

In my previous post I had told you guys that I lost 3 makeup items right? I think you can guess their status now right? Yes, they have been found! The Bobbi Brown glitter eyeshadow in Ballet and bright pink blush were together in a palette. Turned out that they were grouped together with the rest of my small drugstore palettes. I totally overlooked them in that storage space for some reason and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it 2 weeks ago. Happy doesn't even begin to express how I felt. Oh, I love these 2 items so much!

My Bobbi Brown Ballet eye shadow and bright pink blush (forgot the name) as well as my MAC black eye liner pencil (also forgot the name)

Last night I found my MAC eye liner pencil. I was looking for my gel liner brush and since my makeup brush holder was packed with brushes, I had to take a hand full of them out to look at the brushes one by one. Imagine my pleasant surprise at seeing my MAC eye liner pencil sitting there among the brushes left in the holder. Yaaayyyy!!  This black liner pencil may not be the best cause it's a bit stiff so it's not worth the price but I did feel uneasy all these while knowing that some makeup items I bought were missing. Now that my makeup collection is complete again, I am at peace. Hehehe..

Have you ever lost a loved makeup item? Did you ever found it?

Love,
Phoebe
